Zoomie King!

Rusty is a three year old black male. He ran 173 races at Birmingham Greyhound Park. Now he wants to be with a family that will show him all the love he can handle. He has tested older kid, cat and other breed friendly. Rusty is the Zoomie King at the farm. He will zoomie alone, he will zoomie with another greyhound and he will zoomie with a bunch of greyhounds. He enjoys being out with the other greyhounds in his playgroup and he shares nicely. He definitely knows what a toy is and what it is for. He will even play with a toy that no longer squeaks. But if he finds a toy that squeaks, he will run around squeaking. Due to his playful spirit, we will only place him in a home with older kids (10+). He has lots of personality and is very social. He would do wonderful with an active family that will include him in their fun. He would make a greyt "ambassa-dog" for greyhound adoption. He enjoys going out for walks and he walks nicely on a leash. He knows that when he returns from his walk, there is a treat coming. He waits patiently and takes it nicely from your hand. Rusty would make a greyt first greyhound or a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

Just a Baby

Ivy is a 18 month old red female. She ran 10 races at Mobile Greyhound Park. Now she is looking for a comfy couch and a family of her very own. She has tested older kid and other large breed friendly, however she is not cat or other breed friendly. Ivy has retired very early and she is still just a baby. She is playful and loves to run around with a toy in her mouth. If she finds a toy with a squeaky, her mouth is on it, her butt is in the air and her tail is wagging uncontrollably. She also loves to run around with the other greyhounds during their daily zoomies. She gets along with all the other greyhounds and she shares nicely. If another greyhound wants a toy that he has, she will either give it to them or take it and walks away. Due to her very playful nature, we will only place her in a home with older kids (10+). We believe that she would do best in a home with a fenced in yard to stretch her long legs. She likes to go out for walks, but she will need practice on how to walk without crossing in front of the walker. She loves to get treats, but she has not started to take them from our hands. Ivy would make a greyt first greyhound or a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

She has tested older kid, cat and other breed friendly. Vixen has a playful and fun spirit that can keep a smile on your face. She loves to play with the other greyhounds and she shares nicely. She plays with toys even if they do not have a squeaker left. When she finds a toy that still has a working squeaky, which is a miracle in our play area, she gets a very accomplished look on her face and runs around with it in her mouth. She is very friendly and outgoing. She will come right up to a compete stranger and make them her best friend. Due to her active personality, we will only place her with older kids (5+). She likes to go for walks and once she gets over her "OMG!! You have a leash." syndrome, she walks nicely on a leash. She would do best with an active family that will include her in their activities. She enjoys getting treats and she takes them very gently from your hand. Now she would love to race into your heart and around her new family's backyard. She has tested older kid and other large breed friendly, however she is not cat or small animal safe. Tammy is a lot of fun. She is incredibly fast doing her zoomies and she will do them with or without any other greyhounds. She is in love with toys and will make one squeak until it squeaks no more. She gets along with all the other greyhounds and she shares nicely. If it is a toy that does not make a noise, she gives it up. But if it is a toy that squeaks and she is enjoying herself, she will take it and run away. Due to her playful and active nature, we will only place her with older kids (10+). We think that she would do best in a home with an active family with a healthy toy budget and a fenced in backyard. She likes to go for a walk and once she calms down, she walks nicely on a leash. She likes getting her treats and she knows when they are coming. She does take the treats nicely from your hand. Tammy would make a greyt first greyhound or a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

Jim is a two year old brindle male. He ran 23 races at Sarasota and Mobile Greyhound Parks. After his short career he is looking for a loving family who are interested in a long term commitment. He has tested older kid and other large breed friendly, however he is not cat or small animal safe. Jim is still a baby in his heart. He is very sweet, but can be unsure when he first meets you. He warms up fast and once he likes you, he will become your shadow. He likes the other greyhounds in the playgroup, but he tends to let the other greyhounds set the tone. He has not started to play with toys. When you squeak the toy he looks at you, but he isn't interested in investigating the noise. Due to his reserved nature we will only place him with older kids (5+). He likes to go for a walk, but he needs some practice on his leash skills. When you stop walking, he will stop to look at you and walk back towards you. He likes to get his cookies, but he will not take them from your hands. Zapper is a two year old brindle male. He ran 54 races at Birmingham Greyhound Park. This boy is a player not a racer and would be very happy playing his retirement away. He has tested older kid and other large breed friendly, however she is not cat or small animal safe. Zapper has a lot of playful energy and enjoys showing it off. He loves playing with the other greyhounds in his playgroup, but they are not a necessity for him to have fun. He just needs some toys and a fenced in area to be a big goof. He will initiate the play and the zoomies, but he does share nicely. Due to his playful nature, we will only place him with older kids (10+). He likes getting attention from people and he will let you know. He will give you a nudge or a bump to tell you that he is ready for you to pet him. Beware that once you start, he doesn't really want you to stop. He enjoys going out for a walk, but he could use some practice on a leash. ROCK

He is Ready!
Driver is a four year old white and red male. He ran eight races at Wheeling Downs Greyhound Park. We placed him in a home in New York and he lived there for nine months. However when he saw other dogs on his walks, he would get over excited and bite his walker on the hand. This happened many times. Due to this behavior, he was returned to our agency. He has been with us for two years and has been on Prozac 20mg every morning for the past year and a half. Thanks to a very concerned volunteer who worked with him for the past year and his medication, he is ready to find his furever home. She has taken him out in many different social situations, socialized him with other dogs, walked him on a leash, snuggled with him and has even gotten in his crate with him and he has not displayed any sign of aggression. The only time that he gets upset is when he is in his crate and someone that he does not know comes up to him. But if he meets that same person outside of his crate, even on a leash, he is fine and will go right up to them for attention. Driver has tested older kids and other large breed friendly, however he is not cat or small animal safe. He loves to run and play. We have matched him up with several playmates throughout his time with us and he has never had a problem running and playing with them. He will also throw a toy up in the air and chase it all on his own. He loves getting his backside scratched and will even do a little dance. He loves treats and for months he has been enjoying Nutter Butter cookies thanks to his wonderful volunteer. We loves to go out for a walk and he walks nicely on a leash. Due to his past behavior, we will only place Driver with older kids (13+). His perfect furever home is quiet and patient. It has a fenced in backyard and another dog, not necessarily a greyhound, to play and as a companion. His furever parents have tons of dog experience and must be willing to continue his medication regiment. GAA will be very picky when finding him a furever home and we will want him to go to someone who will maintain contact with the organization. We will miss him terribly.

She can be a little nervous in new situations and with new people. Once she warms up to you, she will become your best friend and shadow. She prefers women over men and warms up faster with them. Due to her need to adjust to new environments and people, we will only place her with older kids (10+). She likes to go out and gets very excited when she knows you are coming to get her. She walks nicely on a leash and gives you the look-back to make sure that you are still there. She likes getting her treats and that is when she will really show off her personality. Beautiful Inside and Out

Donna is a two year old dark brindle female. She ran 69 races at Palm Beach, Mardi Gras and Daytona Beach Greyhound Parks. After all her travel she is looking for a family that would like to be in a long term committed relationship. She has tested kid, cat and other breed friendly. Donna is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She has a calm demeanor and getting attention from people. She will stand by your side and let you pet her until your arm goes numb. She gets along with all the other greyhounds in her playgroup and she shares your attention nicely. She has not started to play with the toys, but she has shown some interest in their noise and smell. She does not initiate play or zoomies, but she has no problem joining in. Due to her calm demeanor and social nature, we believe that she may be a good candidate to become a therapy greyhound. She likes to go out for walks and she walks nicely on a leash. She enjoys getting her treats, but she has not started to take them from our hands. She waits patiently until you put it down for her. Donna would make a greyt first greyhound or a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

So Young and Sweet

Rock is a nineteen month old red male. He was registered with the National Greyhound Association and trained to race, however he never officially raced. Now that he has opted to take an early retirement, he is looking for a furever family that will enjoy his lazy goofy nature. He has tested kid, cat and other breed friendly. Rock is just the sweetest and adorable male hound. He has a kind and gentle soul, but also has a playful spirit. He loves being out with the other greyhounds in his playgroup and he gets along with all of them. He has not started to play yet. If you throw a toy for him, he will run over to it, smell it and walk away. We believe that he will find his inner playful nature. He loves getting attention and affection from us and will stand at your side forever to get ear rubs. He likes to go out for walks, but he could use some practice. He doesn't pull on a leash, but he crosses over in front of you. He enjoys getting both verbal praise and a treat. He has not started to take the treat from our hands, but he is very attentive until you drop it for him. Rock would make a greyt first greyhound or a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

Chill
Vinny is a four year old red fawn male. He ran 153 races at Bluffs Run and Birmingham Greyhound Parks. Now he would love to sleep his days away on a comfy bed and just chill. He has tested kid and other large breed friendly, however he is not cat or small animal safe. Vinny has a very old soul attitude. He really loves people and will stand by you for hours as long as you are petting him and showing him some attention. He gets along greyt with the other greyhounds in his playgroup, but he is not much of a player. He will run around with the other greyhounds, but his only interest in toys is the noise they make. Once he has finished his run, he goes either to the gate to go back inside or to our volunteers for attention. If you squeak a toy he looks up and his ears are at attention, but he doesn't run towards it. He likes to go out for walks and he walks nicely on a leash. He likes getting his treats, but he has not started to take them from our hands. He will put his nose to your hand holding the treat, but then he looks down for you to drop it. When you drop the treat, he gently picks it up and lays down to eat it. Vinny would make a greyt first greyhound or a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

Fun Family Boy!

Elijah is a two year old brindle male. He ran 35 races at Mobile Greyhound Park. After a short career, he is looking forward to running around his furever backyard and then a long nap. He has tested older kid, cat and other breed friendly. Elijah has a great personality and is the kind of dog that has never had a bad day in his life. He loves everyone and everything, and nothing can get this boy down. He loves being with the other greyhounds in his playgroup and he gets along with any of them. He has started to play with toys and he likes to have one in his mouth as he runs around the play yard. He isn't teasing the other greyhounds and if they want his toy, he gives it up and moves on. He joins in with the zoomies and he kind of runs like a gazelle. He can get a little excited and will try to jump up, but he stops when he is told no. Due to his playful spirit, we will only place him with older kids (10+). He loves being around people and he is a big kisser. He will lick you hands as you are walking and if you bend down, he will bathe your face. He loves to go for walks and he will stand still while you are putting on his harness. He walks nicely and when you stop, he leans on you immediately. He loves getting treats and he takes them nicely from your hand. He will be an amazing "ambassa-dog" for greyhound adoption. Elijah would make a greyt first greyhound or a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

ELIJAH

Sweet and Affectionate!

Oscar is a two year old black male. He ran 40 races at Birmingham Greyhound Park. Now he would love to run circles around your yard and into your heart. He has tested kid and large breed friendly, however he is not cat or small animal safe. Oscar is an inquisitive boy, who can be found in his playgroup wondering around on his own checking things out. He does like getting attention and if you call him over for some lovin', he will stand by your side for a long time. He gets along greyt with the other greyhounds in his playgroup and he shares nicely. He has shown an interest in toys and he has started to play. He tends to lose interest in those toys that are not as noisy. He prefers the ones that squeak. If another greyhound wants the toy that he has, he simply walks away. He has an outgoing and social nature that would make him a geyt "ambassa-dog" for greyhound adoption. He likes to go out for walks, but can use some practice learning how to not cross in front of the walker. Upon his return from his walk, he enjoys getting a treat. He has not started to take them from our hands. If you hold the treat in your hand, he will push at it with his nose until you put it down for him. Oscar would make a greyt first greyhound or a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

Jax is a six year old red male. He ran 82 races at Wheeling Downs, Tri-State, Mardi Gras and Mobile Greyhound Parks. We placed him in a home in July 2014. He has been returned to Our Village through no fault of his own and would love to be home for the holidays. He has test kid, cat and other breed friendly. Jax is a big goofy boy. He will do big wide zoomies and then come running up to you for attention. He is very into playing with toys and will run around with one in his mouth. But if you call him over to give him some lovins, the toys no longer matter. He enjoys his time with the other greyhounds in his playgroup and he shares nicely, but he still prefers the company of the human. Due to his outgoing and affectionate nature, we believe that he would make an excellent therapy greyhound. He enjoys going out for walks and he walks nicely on a leash with a little swagger to his walk. He loves getting treats and he takes them very gently from your hand. This boy would be the perfect fit in any type of household, he just wants this time to be furever. Jax would make a greyt first greyhound or a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!!!

Sandra is an almost two year old red female. She ran 25 races at Sarasota and Mobile Greyhound Park. This girl was not built for speed, this girl was built for fun!! She has tested older kid, cat and other breed friendly. Sandra is very affectionate and wants your attention. She gets along greyt with the other greyhounds, but she will mostly play "follow the human" in the paddock. She is the type of hound that every time you turn around...there she is. She shows limited interest in toys and things that squeak. If you squeak a toy, she perks up. If you throw the toy you squeaked, she will run after it. Once she runs up to the toy, she smells it and walks away. If another greyhound tries to challenge her for the toy or human attention, she will walk away. When she sees you coming with a leash in your hand, she will stand up to do a dainty play bow and give you a little yip to let you know she is ready. She likes going our for her walks, but she can use some practice walking nicely on a leash. She also has a habit of trying to greet you by jumping up on you. Due to her playful spirit, we will only place her in a home with older kids (5+). Her friendly and outgoing nature makes her the perfect "ambassa-dog" for greyhound adoption. Sandra would make a greyt first greyhound or a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

Your Shadow
Vent is a three year old brindle female. She ran 97 races at Orange Park Kennel Club and Tri-State Greyhound Park. Now she is looking to enter a long term committed relationship with a furever family. She has tested older kid and other large breed friendly, however she is not cat or small animal friendly. Vent enjoys being outside in the paddock with the other greyhounds, but it is mostly because she wants to be with the volunteer. She will follow you around like a shadow. She is so stealth about her following you that you have to be careful not to bump into her. But if you accidentally do bump into her, she takes a few steps back and then goes back into stealth mode. She gets along greyt with the other greyhounds in her playgroup. She has not started to play with toys. If you squeak a toy, her ears go up and she shows interest. She just has not found her inner stuffy player. She is on the lower end of the pack order and will easily give into another greyhound. Due to her timid nature, we will only place her with older kids (10+). We believe that she would do best in a home with another dog, not necessarily a greyhound, that can help her find her pet side. She enjoys going out for walks and she walks nicely on a leash. When you give her a cookie, she will look at the cookie and then look at the floor over and over. It is as if she is trying to tell you to put the cookie down for her. Once you put it down, she will gently take it and eat it. Vent would make a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

Greyt Guy

Baez is a two year old red brindle male. He ran 3 races at Daytona Beach Greyhound Park and his last two races he was not in the picture. Needless to say he was built for the couch. He has tested older kid and other large breed friendly, however he is not cat or small animal safe. Baez has a huge heart and loves to show you his greyt personality. He loves to play with the other greyhounds and he shares nicely. If another greyhound wants his toy, he will pick it up and run around with it. He loves to do his zoomies and he will try to get the other greyhounds to join in with him. But if no one gives into his awkwardly cute play bow, he will take off and complete his zoomies all on his own. He has ADTD, Attention Deficit Toy Disorder, and will go from toy to toy to toy trying to find the right one. He will even pick up fluff thinking that he can get it to squeak. Due to his playful nature, we will only place him with older children (10+). He likes to go out for walks, but he could use some practice on a leash. He enjoys getting affection and will stand next to you and lean into you for as long as you are rubbing his ears. He loves getting treats, but he has not started to take them from our hands. We believe that Baez would do best in a home with a fenced in yard and another dog, not necessarily a greyhound, for companionship and play.

Toy Addict

Bogey is a three year old black male. He ran 71 races at Orange Park and Daytona Beach Greyhound Park. Now he wants to find a furever home with plenty of room to play and a family that will supply him with all the toys his heart desires. He has tested older kid and other large breed friendly, but he is not cat or small animal safe. Bogey is addicted to toys. He will go from toy to toy to toy with a strong passion to find one that will squeak. He likes being with the other greyhounds in his playgroup, but he does not find them necessary. He is quite capable of entertaining himself. He will do his zoomies by himself and he will even throw the toy in the air and catch it. When he is in there with other greyhounds, he shares nicely and will play and zoom with them. If he has a toy that another greyhound wants, he will simply take the toy and run away with it. Due to his playful nature, we will only place him with older kids (10+). His perfect home has a fenced in backyard and another dog, not necessarily a greyhound, for plenty of play time. He likes to go out for walks, and he could use some practice not pulling on the leash. He is a smart boy and knows when he is supposed to get a treat. He gets excited, but he takes them gently from your hand. Bogey would make a wonderful addition to an existing pack.

Needs a Special Person

Amandaville is a four year old red female. She ran 43 races at Orange Park and Tri-State Greyhound Parks. Now she needs a special person who will give her the time and support she needs to be successful in her furever home. She has tested other large breed friendly, however she is not cat or small animal safe. Amandaville was placed in a home, but she took over and had to be returned. She has a very strong personality and would do best with other greyhounds in her home with an experienced adopter. She needs someone who is going to set limits with her and stick to them. She also needs a fenced in backyard so she can enjoy her zoomie time and play. She has been at Greyt Acres Farm for a while now and our volunteers have worked with her. They have done an amazing job helping her drop some extra pounds and working on her social skills. It is because of their hard work and dedication that she is ready to find her true forever home. Due to her first placement, we will not place her in a home with kids. She likes kids and has no problem with them, but we do not want her to become alpha over them. She loves to go out for her walks and she walks nicely on a leash. She loves getting treats and she takes them nicely from your hand. We recommend that her new parents take her to obedience training to help her understand that they are in charge. Amandaville would make a wonderful addition to an existing pack.
